Tis' the Season...for New Fall Hair!
While attending the preseason trend showcases, the GAVORA team witnessed a change in color designs for the coming season. Artistic teams were showing hair color with interwoven warm oranges, rosy mauves and smokey brown tones, Mix-it-up on medium brown colors with a block of caramel color, or with peek-a-boo chunk of a warm copper. To add depth in lighter shades of hair, we are seeing modern tones of soft mauve, all the way to deeper plums added in the interior. On darker browns or soft blacks we have seen a beautiful introduction of grape-toned highlights breaking through the base color. To compliment these bolder trends in hair color, strong geometric haircuts with straight edges and visible lines, are a bold eye catching change from the very textured and razored edges of the cuts from the past couple of years.
Men of Style
According to an article in the August issue of Modern Salon, "If metrosexuality is in, then consider nail polish, men's new must-have accessory. At the Fall 2004 fashion shows in New York, designers for Betsey Johnson, Guido and Heatherette sent their male models down the catwalks with painted and adorned fingertips. According to Creative Nail Design artists, who created many of the nail looks at Fashion Week, the hot hues for man-polish are black, midnight blue, gold and silver. And if men get impatient, fear not: Smudged, mixed or chipped polish will still look red-carpet ready." We'll just have to wait and see if that trend makes it's way to Manteca…
Little Treasures
Retro-inspired handbags with modern designs but made with vintage materials like Lucite are the perfect accessory for the current fashion trend of the 50's flavor circle skirts or Capri pants with boots. As far as the hair to be worn with this newly revived look, try setting hair on rollers (Yes, we said rollers!) for a smoother wave pattern when brushed out. It has a glamorous movie star look. Think Gwen or Charlize ala Rita or Bette.
Tweens
Tweens are the face of the future. The GAVORA staff enjoy working with this age group (10-14), for so many different reasons. They're hugely open to new ideas or styles, they love working with fun and funky products and they don't have to worry about a conservative work place or about co-workers opinions. (except of course Mom and Dad.) But best of all, they have the healthiest hair to work with. Which of course, makes our work look great. The staff is always open to working with youth groups to provide hair care lessons or instruction on hygiene. If you have a group that might benefit from a private party, talk to a staff member about setting something up!
But here are a few tips for age appropriate make-up...
1. Less is still more. Everyday make-up should be applied to enhance a teen's natural beauty, not overpower it.
2. Young skin doesn't typically require foundation. However sometimes skin tones need to be evened out, a tinted moisturizer is the perfect product for this.
3. Use lip gloss rather than lipstick for a more age appropriate look.
4. Starting with eye make-up can be overwhelming. Most companies sell pallets of complementing tone. We suggest that beginners don't use more than two colors. One for the lid and one as highlighter.
Wax or Relax
Waxing isn't always at the top of the most enjoyable salon services we offer, but the result is one of the most time saving in the long run. We do suggest however that if a waxing service is part of your appointment you skip the glass of wine offered at the start of your visit.
Stress Fallout
If you are experiencing hair loss, stress could be the culprit. According to Nioxin Research Laboratories, stress affects the scalp and hair in two ways. First, the adrenal glands, which give the body energy to react to the pressures and dangers of everyday life, secrete three hormones - cortisol, DHEA and adrenalin - in a controlled rhythm throughout the day. When chronic stress disrupts the rhythm, the levels of these hormones surge, leading eventually to adverse effects on the skin and hair. Second, when faced with increased stress the body automatically redirects the flow of blood and oxygen to areas it considers vital (the heart and brain) and withdraws from non-essential areas (skin and hair). Now that you know how stress can cause hair loss, just one more reason to take Nioxin Recharging Complex once a day!
